For Romania, participating in the Socrates program represents an essential issue in the field of education and is a valuable part in the strategy for accession in the European Community. Romanian Socrates National Agency (NA) has started its activity the first of April 1996; today, its status implies an independent activity, however under the guidance of the Ministry for Education, Research and Youth who is the National Authority for implementing the program.
N.A. coordinates the evaluation and selection procedures of the projects by collecting and registering them, submitting the projects for evaluation towards independent experts, informing each participant about the outcome of his (hers) project submitted and, last but not least, providing its opinion in the selection procedure for centralized actions, according to the general set of regulations.
N.A. also takes care of the administrative, financial and contract management of decentralized actions. This task includes issuing and signing the contracts with the final beneficiaries (for the projects approved), financial monitoring and management of contracts, making sure about the correctness of reports in all aspects and so on. At the same time, N.A. carries out various information and counseling activities for active or potential participants, including organizing seminaries, workshops etc. One important side of our activities consists in cooperation with other community programs (Leonardo da Vinci, Youth etc) as well as with other N.A.s and of course with the European Commission.
To fulfill its aims, N.A. has a number of experts specialized in various programs (Erasmus, Minerva, Comenius, Lingua, Eurydice, Grundtvig, Arion), accompanied by IT experts as well as by a strong financial and administrative compartment. Their list, also containing the corresponding e-mail addresses are submitted in the present page.
As you can see, our site has now a section where all information is written in English. Our intention is to offer useful data for potential partners in future projects. In this respect, we have presented lists containing addresses of Romanian universities, together with the names of contact persons, as well as relevant details regarding the coordinates of inspectorates for education.
We hope that the information offered in this page will prove to be of interest for future projects, by helping participants from all over Europe to have easier contacts with their Romanian counterparts.
